Sharon Pinchera, OTR/L
Sharon Pinchera is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist with extensive experience spanning hospital, school, home, and private clinic settings. Since receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire, she has devoted her career to maximizing the quality of life for her clients from infancy through adulthood. It was during her time at UNH, in an independent study involving the use of sensory integration techniques to improve function in a child with a diagnosis of autism, that Sharon was ultimately inspired to immerse herself in the art and science of occupational therapy. Through this dedication, she has continued to develop her skills and has received training in a wide range of therapeutic interventions including visual-vestibular habilitation, visual processing, fine motor and visual-motor development, Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, Integrated Listening Systems (iLS), Handwriting Without Tears, and manual and integrative therapy techniques such as craniosacral therapy, yoga for children, reflexology and primary reflex integration. She is also certified to administer and interpret the SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test).
Sharon is dedicated to enhancing families’ and other professionals’ understanding of sensory integration, self-regulation, organization, attention, and motor planning and has provided numerous presentations and consultations throughout Connecticut on these and other topics. It is through her compassion and creativity that Sharon embraces each client’s story and is able to provide the “just right challenge” in therapy that is individualized in order to facilitate growth and improve skills in one or more of the occupations of life.
